DonateJoin Zen Buddhist Monk Brother Phap Luu, co-author of Hiking Zen, for a mindful walk followed by book signing and reading at the iconic independent bookstore, Warwick's, in La Jolla, CA.
This special event offers a chance to slow down, connect with the present moment, and experience the healing power of mindful walking.
Before the book talk and signing, Brother Pháp Lưu will lead a Guided Walk starting at 6:30pm; please meet at Warwick's at 6:15pm to take part.
This event is free and open to the public; free seating is subject to available space on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure seating, reserve one book per person through Warwick’s for everyone in your party.
Whether you’re new to mindfulness or a longtime practitioner, this gathering will be an opportunity to nourish body and mind in a supportive community.
All are welcome. We look forward to sharing this mindful journey with you.
Agenda:
6:30-7:30pm: Mindful Walking
7:30-9:00pm: Book Signing
If you already have a copy of Hiking Zen, bring it with you to get it signed by Brother Phap Luu.
We ask that all guests please observe our dress code. To support the collective energy of practice, please wear sleeves that cover the shoulders (short sleeves are acceptable), shirts that cover the midriff, and long pants or long skirts that are loose-fitting and cover the knees at all times. Please do not wear shorts, tank tops, nor tight-fitting clothing. We kindly ask friends to dress modestly for the duration of their time with us and to share this information with anyone attending the event with you.
From time to time we offer multi-week courses related to mindfulness, the teachings and life of Thich Nhat Hanh, and a variety of similar subjects. Please see our schedule of upcoming courses.
Take the Deer Park Monastery and Plum Village community with you wherever you go. The Plum Village app is designed to cultivate mindfulness, compassion, and joy through guided meditations, deep relaxations, practice poems, bells of mindfulness, and other practices — all through a mobile device.
