DonateThis year, we celebrate 100 years since the birth of our beloved teacher, Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay). On Sunday, October 25, we invite you to join us at Deer Park Monastery for a special Day of Mindfulness honoring his life, teachings, and the many seeds of peace and compassion he has planted in the world.
We will follow our usual Day of Mindfulness schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with opportunities to practice walking and sitting meditation, enjoy mindful time together, and nourish ourselves in the beauty of the monastery.
In place of our traditional Dharma talk, the morning will feature live music and poetry inspired by Thay’s life and teachings. Monastics will also share photographs and stories from different chapters of Thay’s life, including childhood memories and significant moments along his path as a teacher and peace activist.
Together, we will remember the person who invited us to come home to the present moment—to breathe, to walk, to smile, and to recognize that peace is possible in every step.
Whether you have practiced with Thay’s teachings for many years or are discovering them for the first time, we warmly welcome you to celebrate his life and continue his legacy of mindfulness, peace, and engaged compassion.
