The Five Remembrances | Sr. Dac Nghiem

In this gentle and heartfelt Dharma talk, a senior nun from Deer Park Monastery reflects deeply on the Five Remembrances—powerful contemplations on aging, illness, death, separation, and karma. Through stories, teachings, and personal experiences—such as bringing her mother to the emergency room, attending funeral ceremonies, and letting go of attachments—the speaker invites us to embrace impermanence with mindfulness and compassion. Drawing wisdom from the Buddha’s parables, such as the Four Mountains, and offering a touching Vietnamese song adapted with lyrics for mothers-to-be, she reminds us that happiness is possible in each moment when we live with awareness, gratitude, and simplicity.
