Giving & Interbeing | Sr. Than Nghiem

This Dharma talk, offered on Thanksgiving Day at Deer Park Monastery, invites us to practice gratitude deeply in the spirit of interbeing. The speaker encourages the community to connect with ancestors, the land, and each other through mindfulness, loving speech, and the art of giving. Drawing on Thầy (Thich Nhat Hanh)’s teachings and presence, the talk explores the Four Gratitudes, the Six Paramitas, and the Threefold Emptiness in giving. It honors the sacredness of the land and the presence of the Indigenous Luiseño people, weaving personal memories with collective remembrance. A heartfelt introduction to Thầy’s newly published book “In Love and Trust” concludes the talk, highlighting the deep relationship between teacher and student that transcends time and form.
